Anna Riabova (Ukr), architect and visual artist, is working on a book called Oberih (Ukrainian: an item that protects, 'cares', English equivalent: amulet, talisman).
The book is a collection of personal artifacts and stories collected from Ukrainians who are currently living in difficult, sometimes life-threatening conditions. It traces intimate and reliable connections between people, memories and events, mediated through times and distances through a magical symbolic object, which we call oberih.
The publication, compiled by the collective of substructures, also aims to raise funds and provide a platform and financial support to those currently in need in Ukraine.
The book will be presented on 13 June at Liste Art Fair Basel and possibly afterwards via pop-ups in Amsterdam (m4gastatelier), Paris and Berlin.
In the near future, Anna will work on ceramic objects in m4gastatelier.
