You're warmly invited to join us at the Supper Club on Saturdays from May through August 2024.
Under the theme "Deconstructing Contemporary Palates" artist Christian Sleiman opens the m4 space to the public.
On specific Saturdays, Christian and local practitioners will host dinner gatherings, sharing their research/practice through culinary presentations and/or performances.
The Supper Club will explore the political, economic, and cultural forces that shape our relationship with food and influence our taste preferences. The topics planned for discussion include: foraging as an ancestral ritual, insights from the Futurist cookbook by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Massimo Montanari’s explorations of food and national identity, the impact of mulberry monoculture in Lebanon during the Ottoman Empire and its connection to the Great Famine of 1916, the popularization of the Mediterranean diet, and the emergence of ultra-processed foods.
Event Dates:
- May: Saturdays at 20:00, 4th and 18th (TBC)
- June: Saturdays at 20:00, 1st, 8th, and 22nd
- July and August: Dates to be announced
